The Boston Terrier Club of America, Inc. was founded in 1891.  As one of the early breed clubs recogonized by the then young American Kennel Club, the BTCA has developed into the driving force behind the developement and improvement of the Boston Terrier over the last 100 plus years.

The stated objectives of the BTCA as presented in the constitution are:

1.  To encourage and promote quality in the breeding of pure-bred Boston Terriers, and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.
2.  To encourage the organization and development of affiliated Boston Terrier Clubs  in those location where there are sufficient fanciers of the breed to meet the requirements of the American Kennel Club.
3.  To urge members and breeders to accept the Standard of the Breed as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only Standard of excellence by which Boston Terriers shall be judged.
4.  To do all in its power to protect and advance the interest of the breed and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and obedience trials.
5.  To conduct sanctioned matches, specialty shows and obedience trials under the the rules of the American Kennel Club.
